Mayo Arts Service Newsletter October 2017

Great to see an image of my artwork Paper Bloom on the Mayo Arts Service Newsletter for the month of October 2017.

Paper Bloom is my outcome of being Mayo County Councils artist in residence at the Jackie Clarke Collection to commemorate 1916. It is based on the measurements of Padraig Pearse’s jail cell in Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, covered in 5,500 handmade white fabric peace lilies.

Centenary book launch

My work has been featured in a new state published book, Centenary.

Last night I was invited to go to the launch of the book Centenary. It took place at the GPO in Dublin. Heather Humphreys T.D., Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht launched the new publication Centenary. Centenary was edited by Ronan McGreevy, Irish Times journalist and author.

What a brilliant book! Centenary is a state published book documenting the 2016 Centenary Programme. It features many articles, interviews and pictures from the various commemorations and events from around Ireland and the rest of the world – including me and my art work!

Screening of Silent Moves

I’m really looking forward seeing this…..

Silent Moves explores the real challenges faced by people with disabilities in our society: freedom to work, make friends, fall in love, marry, move freely in the world and make their own choices.
A film by internationally acclaimed visual artist Aideen Barry and artists of Western Care’s Ridgepool Training Centre, Scannán Technologies and presented by Ballina Arts Centre. For more information click here.
